Oakland University police could be seen a short distance behind a jumbotron on which graphic videos played for hours Monday while members of Created Equal, an anti-abortion group, talked to students on campus Monday.

The members call themselves "Justice Riders" and, on the sides of the walkway near Bear Lake, they also displayed graphic photos that have been enlarged to show a side of abortion they hope will move people to be against abortions.

"I feel something like this should not be shown on campus," said OU freshman Cameron Kanachki. "It is deeply offensive to certain people, me being one of them."

Members of Created Equal believe people need to be educated about the violence of abortion.

"The purpose of showing it is just to illustrate exactly what is happening so we can get past some of the rhetoric and actually have a real conversation about what's going on," said Sam Riley, a field captain and content manager for Created Equal.

A spokesperson for the university told 7 Action News that they recognize and respect the "First Amendment rights of campus and broader community members who want to participate in peaceful, open dialogue on controversial issues."

Members of Created Equal will return to Oakland University Tuesday.

On Wednesday, they are scheduled to take their demonstration to Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.
