In the midst of election night, Jackson City Clerk Randy Wrozek was fired by city council. The council voted 5-2 Tuesday night to terminate his contract.
Wrozek was fired in part for his role in the non-discrimination ordinance passed by city council and the effort to block that ordinance from taking effect. City council members say he improperly certified petitions to block the NDO and didn't follow the council directive in a lawsuit against the city by supporters of that ordinance.
The council says he sent inappropriate messages from the city clerk email account. His last day on the job will be this Friday.
