Sunday, July 28 is the first day of a two-day event in Southfield called "Rock the Block," where Habitat for Humanity goes into neighborhoods to help homeowners make needed repairs they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford. This time, it is an interfaith effort.

People from several religions and six different places of worship tackled projects at a dozen or so Southfield homes doing everything from ripping out and replacing old gutters to clearing overgrown brush. From Muslim to Catholic to Jewish and Methodist, those with different faiths worked side by side bonding over the shared belief of making the community a better place.

Monday the interfaith "Rock the Block" continues. You can join by meeting at 8:30 a.m. at the tents set up in the St. Mary the Protectress church parking lot.
