Iceland's low-cost airline, WOW air, will begin service from Detroit Metro Airport beginning in 2018, the airline announced Wednesday.

According to WOW air, Detroit is one of four cities that they will begin expanding to next year.

"WOW air is very excited to bring our flight services to four new Midwest destinations," WOW air CEO and Founder Skúli Mogensen said in a release. "We are proud of our growth over the last two years and will continue to work tirelessly to provide the lowest fares possible to each region of the U.S. Helping to make international travel truly a possibility for everyone."

Flights from DTW to Keflavik International Airport (KEF) will begin April 26 in Detroit. They will fly out of DTW four days a week.

“Adding another international route will only amplify the impact Detroit Metro Airport has on the regional economy; it’s one of our most important assets,”  Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans said in the release. “This speaks to the value international airlines continue to see in Metro Detroit. The new service to Europe should help expose even more travelers to all our region has to offer.”

Bookings are available now at WOW air's website, with one flight on April 30, 2018, costing only $99.
