Warm weather is on the horizon across Michigan, and that means people will take to the outdoors at their favorite locations, which could include the Huron-Cinton Metroparks.
This year, those with annual passes to the Metroparks may have noticed something different on their annual pass...a barcode.
According to the group, the passes will now be scanned at the tollbooth any time you enter a Metropark. That's so they can track the ZIP codes the pass users are coming from and which Metroparks they are visiting to create better experiences, amenities and much more.
The park scanning will begin on May 1. According to the Metroparks staff, people do not have to choose to share their ZIP code out of privacy concerns when they buy an annual pass, and the group only plans on capturing the ZIP codes.
Annual passes cost $35 per vehicle and get you access to all 13 Huron-Clinton Metroparks. They are valid from the time of purchase until Dec. 31, 2019.
In all, there are 13 Metroparks across the area. To find the one closest to you, visit metroparks.com
