From football to basketball, Joey – as Joseph prefers to be called – is really into sports. The 14-year-old, who’s in foster care, is hoping to be adopted one day soon by a sports-loving family.
“I basically like to play any kind of sports. I’m a big gamer,” said Joey.
“He is easy to talk to and fun to be around,” said Joey’s worker. And he enjoys helping people get through tough spells.
“I love being there for people – kind of like a therapist, but like a younger version,” said Joey. “I don’t like seeing people down all the time. I like seeing people laugh. That’s one of my favorite things to do. I can just make people laugh out of the blue,” he added.
His favorite subject in school is a tie between social studies and science.
The eighth grader also has a creative side.
“What I like about art is kind of how you can just design; you can use your imagination to make certain things - anything in the world. [You can] either paint, use colored pencils, and I sketch sometimes,” he said.
Joey is looking forward to going into college and majoring in either art or specializing in a sport.
He’s hoping to attend the University of Michigan.
“I’m a big Michigan fan,” said Joey.
When it comes to pets, he has a favorite.
“I love animals. I like dogs the most because they’re always by your side. They’re kind of like humans, but they can’t talk,” he said smiling.
What he wishes for the most, however, is a family to call his own.
“The kind of family I’d like to have? Someone who’s kind of sportsy, [will] play video games, still into their younger ages,” he said.
He’d like to have family days where the parents and kids all get together and have good conversations.
“We have fun, we watch movies -- a real, normal family,” Joey said, describing what he hopes for once adopted.
Please help him realize his dream of being adopted.
