Ask Emma to recite her poetry, and she’ll likely deliver one of her favorites. The 14-year-old – who’s currently in foster care – is hoping to share her interests with a future adoptive mom and dad.
“I write poems according to the mood that I’m in. And I just based it on what kids might think of their life on the street,” Emma said.
“She loves to write different poems about her life. And she’ll write different poems about the Bible, about life in general,” said her worker.
In addition to writing poetry, she also enjoys reading -- especially Harry Potter books.
“She’s kind. She’s encouraging. She’s a great leader. She loves being a support to other people,” said her worker.
Emma is also an animal lover. “I love cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs. When I grow up on want to do stuff with animals,” she explained.
“The kind of family I’d like to live with is one that is basically more kind and caring. Somebody who will meet my needs,” said Emma.
“I would like a Mom and a Dad, but if I were to have brothers and sisters, I would prefer them to be older so I can have someone else to rely on if Mom and Dad aren’t there,” she added.
“I want a family to basically support me whenever I need it,” she said softly.
Her case worker hopes Emma finds a family that will support her and provide her with love and hope and understanding.
