A family is desperate for answers a year after a deadly hit and run in Macomb County.

Twenty-one-year-old Jacob Brand was hit and killed while walking on Bordman Rd. near North Avenue in the early morning hours of April 30, 2016.  He had been with friends but they dropped him off to walk home.

The driver didn’t stop after the crash and Brand’s body was found in a ditch.

His dad wants to know what happened and his entire family wants closure.

"Constantly searching for answers, day after day, hoping one day, something will come up,” said William Brand, Jacob’s father.

Brand said it’s unbearable facing each day without his son.

"It's hard not having him around, knowing what a joy he was, and how much joy he brought to everybody,” said Brand.

He said the most important thing for his family is getting some closure.

"We kind of need to know who is responsible, what happened. It could have been an accident, we don't know, we're not saying it was purposely done, we don't know,” said Brand.

Which is why family and friends have put together a reward for information and it’s reached nearly $20,000.

"I'm sure the people know who they are, or the person, they know who they are, I'm sure they think about it every day, I just would hope they would come forward,” said Brand.
