Longtime neighbors of a 95-year-old woman scammed this week told 7 Action News she's embarrassed, but doing OK.

Bob and Marion Krupitzer say the neighborhood on Goodale Avenue in Clawson is looking out for the elderly woman after a man posing as a city worker stole her money.

Police say the man acted like a city water employee, flashing a fake ID, and wearing a bright yellow vest.

Once inside, he told the woman she needed new water lines, tricking her into giving him nearly $150.

We're told the suspect had the woman running around filling up tea kettles.

Investigators believe this man could be connected to scams targeting seniors in other cities like Royal Oak.
