LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.

Stephanie Mellendorf, a teacher at Oaktree Elementary in Goodrich is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. In her nomination video, Jill Nicholas says, "Through her engaging, creative and fun lessons she is able to help students find their confidence and reach their potential."

Stephanie commented, "I'm just motivated because I love it, I love what I do and I'm happy doing it. When you’re motivated and you're happy it's easy to put in the extra time and effort."

Stephanie was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her school will receive a $500 grant!

The Excellence in Education award is sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, proud to provide more than $23 billion to support public education since 1972!
