LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.
Sarah Dodds, a teacher at Walled Lake Consolidated Schools is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. A letter she received stated, "Sarah was my daughter's teacher and the very first day of school she welcomed Alicia into her classroom with open arms and made her feel like she was family."
Sarah commented, "As an educator we don't only get to see the children but we get to work very closely with the parents and we do become a kind of like family."
Sarah was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her school will receive a $500 grant!
The Excellence in Education award is sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, proud to provide more than $23 billion to support public education since 1972!
