The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with MSU Men's Basketball Coach, Tom Izzo, and FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.
Joe Churches, a construction teacher at Dakota High School in Macomb, has dedicated his life to teaching kids how to build up their future through the trade of construction. That's why he is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner.
Churches was recognized with a $500 check from the Michigan Lottery and his class will receive a $500 grant. Churches said the money will be going into the Student BIA, which is a home builders association.
The Excellence in Education award is sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, proud to provide nearly 19 billion dollars to support public education over the past 40 years.
