The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.
Adam Vallis from Lamphere High School in Madison Heights joins us as this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education Award winner.
"We lost a student several years ago to cancer. Mr. Vallis did what naturally comes to him, he led with compassion and grace and for that I will be always grateful to him."
Adam stated that "I have a poster in my room that says don't count the days, make the days count. And I tell them, you only have a certain amount of time to live. You don't know when, so what are you doing with your life? I see the opportunity in kids and I don't want the opportunity to be lost."
Adam receives a $1500 check from the Michigan Lottery and his class at Yale High School receives a $500 grant.
The Excellence in Education award is sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, proud to provide more than $20 billion to support public education since 1972!
