Detroit rapper Eminem dropped a new album in late 2017 and another in 2018, one highly anticipated and the other a surprise, which helped him sell the most albums of any artist last year.
According to Buzz Angle Music's 2018 year-end report, Eminem sold more than 750,000 albums in 2018, which put him at No. 1 by more than 150,000 albums. "Revival" was released on Dec. 17, 2017, and "Kamikaze" was released as a surprise on Aug. 31, 2018.
In all, Eminem sold 755,027 albums last year. Koreann boy band BTS was at No. 2 with 603,307 albums sold. Country superstar Chris Stapleton was third, followed by Metallica and Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper.
Slim Shady also ranked fourth for the top artists by total consumption with more than 1.8 million song sales and 2.6 million projected units. For on-demand audio streams, Eminem had 2.575 billion streams.
Drake was the top artist by total consumption with 7.743 billion on-demand audio streams.
