A mom is calling for action after she says a teacher attacked her kindergarten age little girl. It allegedly happened at Carleton Elementary School in Detroit.
The Detroit Public Schools Community District is not denying or confirming that this happened. A spokesperson says the district is and has been investigating it.
“I don’t want another kid to experience this,” said Tahkeithia Swann. She says it happened to her daughter on Friday.
Five-year-old Ariel Moon’s grandmother picked her up and noticed she was bleeding and bruised on her neck.
“She said my teacher did this to me,” said Swann.
The teacher told grandma it happened as she caught Ariel because the little girl was about to fall. Ariel told a much different story.
She says she teased the teacher, knowing other kids would laugh.
“The teacher is a miss, but my daughter called her mister,” said Swann.
“I didn’t know she was going to grab my face and do that to me,” said Ariel.
Swann says her daughter perhaps deserved discipline, but not to be attacked, left bleeding and bruised.
“My daughter doesn’t even want to go to school now,” said Swann.
Swann did go to the hospital to document the injuries and report them to Child Protective Services. As these investigations move forward, we will let you know what we learn.
