Detroit police search for missing 10-year-old who did not come home from school

Detroit police are asking for the public's help to find a missing 10-year-old boy who did not return home from school on Thursday.

Malek Nelthrop was last seen at around 3:45 p.m. in the area of Cherrylawn and Chippewa. That's in northwest Detroit, near 8 Mile and Wyoming.

Malek is 4'3" tall and weighs about 70 pounds. He has a dark complexion, short black hair and brown eyes. Hew as last seen wearing a royal blue hooded sweatshirt, a light blue shirt, navy blue pants and black Nike gym shoes with a lime green swoosh. 

He may be carrying a black backpack with lime green stripes.

Police say he is in good mental and physical condition. He has also gone missing on one previous occasion.
