Detroit man charged in assault of 7 Action News crew, WWJ reporter

A 60-year-old man from Detroit has been charged in connection with threatening two reporters, one of them being WXYZ's Nia Harden, and damaging their work vehicles, as well as assaulting a Detroit police officer.

dmund Gilliam is accused of threatening Nia and WXYZ photojournalist Mike Krotche and striking the news van, smashing the window and driver's side window.

He is also accused of threatening a reporter from WWJ with the pole and hitting the truck with the pole, causing damage.

Nia and Mike were not injured in the attack, and neither was the WWJ reporter.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says that when Gilliam was commanded to stop by the police, he ran away. When an officer attempted to arrest him, it is alleged that Gilliam grabbed a piece of concrete and threw it, striking the officer in the knee.

Another officer tased him and he was placed under arrest. 

Gilliam has been charged with three counts of Felonious Assault, one count of Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer and four counts of Malicious Destruction of Property $200-$1000.
