Dearborn Police dashcam video is key evidence in an investigation into two Highland Park cops.
We broke the story last week. Two Highland Park police officers remain under investigation for possible misconduct and abuse of power while off duty in another jurisdiction.
Now, the 7 Investigators have obtained written police reports and dashcam video from Dearborn that is key evidence in the investigation of Highland Park Reserve Officer Curtis Wilson and Highland Park Police Lt. Jamille Edwards.
The evidence shows Wilson was working security at the Post Bar in Dearborn on May 28 and had parked a Highland Park Police SUV halfway up a sidewalk.
When Dearborn Police checked it and him out, they found Wilson first refused to show his ID. Wilson did have a Concealed Pistols License that allowed him to carry a Glock handgun on his job in the bar.
Dearborn called Highland Park police and an Officer-in-Charge was sent to the bar to get the city vehicle.
Wilson also personally called Lt. Edwards, who also came over while off duty and was described by Dearborn as “hostile” toward the Dearborn Police Sergeant on the scene.
The dashcam video has all of these exchanges i- ncluding audio.
We have been told that the only Highland Park Official who can discuss this case is Police Chief Chester Logan - who retired from Detroit Police.
Chief Logan told 7 Investigator Jim Kiertzner last week that the internal investigation would be finished in a week to ten days. That would be by the end of this week.
Chief Logan did not return a call for an update on the two officers. As of last week neither one had been put on suspension during the investigation.
