People who are planning on visiting Lake Michigan on Monday are being encouraged to avoid swimming in some areas as dangerous waves and currents are expected, especially for southwest Michigan.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, beeches between St. Joseph and Grand Haven will have dangerous waves with winds between 15-25 mph. Waves are expected to be 4+ feet, and could be as high as 7 feet.
Even up to Muskegon and Pentwater, swimmers are advised to use caution, and the safe to swim areas are from Pentwater and up to Manistee.

From St. Joe's to just south of Muskegon, a Small Craft Advisory is also in effect as waves are expected to build to nearly 7 feet this afternoon. The NWS in northern Indiana also issued to advisory, saying waves could be up to 8 feet.
