A cougar was spotted on a Michigan Department of Natural Resources camera in Michigan's western Upper Peninsula earlier this month.
The game camera caught the cougar miles north of Ironwood, which sits on the Michigan-Wisconsin border.
According to the DNR, cougars, also known as mountain lions, were native to Michigan and are now endangered in the state and protected under law.
In the last 10 years, the DNR has confirmed only 38 cougar reports, all but one of which were in the UP.
