President Donald Trump tweeted about Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Friday morning, one day after the governor and the state legislature were at odds over a state of emergency extension.
In the tweet, Trump said, "The Governor of Michigan should give a little, and put out the fire. These are very good people, but they are angry. They want their lives back again, safely! See them, talk to them, make a deal."

Hundreds of people showed up to the Capitol building in Lansing to protest on Thursday.
Later in the day, the Republican-led State House refused to extend the state of emergency and also voted to authorize a lawsuit challenging Whitmer's authority.
Then, Whitmer signed three new executive orders declaring a new state of emergency and state of disaster in Michigan until May 28 at 11:59 p.m.
The three new executive orders also terminated the previous states of emergency and disaster declarations, which were issued under the Emergency Management act. The new executive orders cite the Emergency Powers of the Governor Act of 1945 and the Emergency Management Act of 1976.
