This is the second week of summer school in the Detroit Public Schools Community District.

Protesters were back out at a contractor's bus yard to stop drivers and buses from hitting their routes.

The protesters are connected with BAMN, By Any Means Necessary. They’ve gone to court seeking an injunction to shut down summer school.

Detroit Police say 3 protesters were arrested for disorderly conduct.

A DPSCD spokesperson says the classes are continuing Monday through Thursday for two more weeks with more than 600 students and 170 teachers who wanted to work.

Trenesia Watson has two daughters in the summer program and says parents and kids need to decide what’s best for them.

Annesia is in the 5th grade and says everyone is wearing a mask and social distancing during school.

Trenesia also has her kids go through safety protocols when they get home including taking a shower and getting into clean clothes.

The start of the new school year is just weeks away.
