Health insurance special enrollment periods are now available for uninsured Michiganders impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the state said in a news release Tuesday.
The first opportunity to enroll is during a qualifying life event, such as a job loss or the birth of a child.
Though consumers usually have 60 days after such an event to enroll, extra time is available during the pandemic.

“Michiganders should not delay in enrolling in health care coverage if they have lost their insurance,” the Department of Insurance and Financial Services said. “DIFS is available to assist if residents have questions about coverage or enrollment.”
