FOX 47 News continues to profile stories of COVID-19 survival.

Kelvin Calhoun, a sports freelance photographer, beat the coronavirus after 25 days in the hospital.

"I am lucky to be alive," Calhoun said.

It's been an emotional journey for the 56-year-old.

"I'm hearing from colleagues from across the country," Calhoun said. "And it's just overwhelming."

Doctors placed him in a medically induced coma and ventilator to keep him alive.

"You're just not sure where you are... if its real or if its fake," Calhoun said.

He is still tethered to oxygen at home. The contract photographer was inside the Utah Jazz locker room for postgame interviews on March 7 following their game against the Detroit Pistons.

Since then, Jazz franchise player, Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, tested positive for COVID-19, which suspended league play.

After he overcame the nightmare diagnosis he said he is thankful for the outpouring support. Friends and colleagues raised more than $17,000, shattering the $10,000 goal.

"I would have never known people feel the way they feel about me," Calhoun said. "It's like, wow! I can't believe everyone is asking about this."

Calhoun made it home just in time for his mother's 76th birthday.
