Detroit police captain Jonathan Parnell passes away from COVID-19

Detroit Police Chief James Craig announced that Captain Jonathan Parnell has died from COVID-19.

Parnell spent decades on the force.

"Everyone loved him," Craig said during a press conference with Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan on Wednesday.

This is the department's second death from COVID-19, following the death of a civilian dispatcher .

More than 200 DPD officers are in quarantine due to potential exposure to the virus.
