US Congressman Paul Mitchell is suing Governor Gretchen Whitmer over her emergency actions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mitchell says the governor's restrictions violate constitutional rights and violates the separation of powers between the legislative and executive branches.
Mitchell, who represents the 10th Congressional District in the thumb, filed the lawsuit in US District Court for the Western District of Michigan in Grand Rapids.
The governor has argued her actions are necessary to keep people safe.
