Detroit Red Wings Goaltender Jimmy Howard is donating $50,000 worth of N95 masks to the Detroit Medical Center to help in the coronavirus fight.

Howard purchased the masks to protect healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle.

The purchase has been made and the masks are on their way to DMC.

“These healthcare workers are fighting the battle of their lives, on behalf of all of us,” Howard said. “They are heroes, and we’ve all got to do what we can to support them and thank them for their tireless work right now and in the weeks to come.”

Several other Red Wings players have jumped in to help healthcare workers.

Justin Abdelkader donated 1,200 meals to feed workers at St. Joe's Oakland Hospital and Dylan Larkin donated 25,000 gloves to St. Mary Mercy in Livonia.
