(WXYZ) — Michigan reported 635 new COVID-19 cases and 63 deaths Saturday, according to numbers released by the state.
There have been a total 579,919 cases and 15,359 deaths in the state.
Cases are currently down 85% from the mid-November peak in Michigan. Overall, 3.5% of tests are coming back positive; this number has been declining for five weeks.
Additionally, 5.2% of hospital beds are being used to treat COVID patients, down 79% from the peak in late fall.
State officials say these are "encouraging trends" that have Michigan moving in the right direction.
The state reported a total 529,080 recoveries.
