Michigan reports 454 new cases of COVID-19 and 30 deaths, total deaths top 6,000

LANSING, Mich. — The state of Michigan reported 454 new cases of COVID-19 and 30 deaths, according to the latest information released by the state's department of health and human services on Tuesday.

It brings the total number of cases up to 66,627 and 6,005 deaths as of Tuesday. Of the 30 new deaths announced today, 20 of them were identified during a records review. Only 10 of the reported deaths were over the last 24 hours.

The state also lists 7,273 probable cases of the virus, and 246 deaths are probably from the virus.

On Sunday, the state reported zero new deaths for the first time since March, when the pandemic was growing in the state.

52,841 people have also recovered from the virus. Those numbers are updated every Saturday and include people who are still living 30 days after the onset of their symptoms.

There are also 7,100 active cases of the virus in Michigan, which is about 1,100 more cases than this time last week.

Michigan has seen an uptick in cases, especially among young people.
