Michigan reports 3,896 new cases of COVID-19, 187 deaths on Saturday

LANSING, Mich. — Michigan reported 3,896 daily confirmed cases and 187 deaths on Saturday.

That brings the total confirmed cases to 458,852 and the total number of deaths to 11,461.

According to state health officials, the deaths announced Saturday include 155 deaths identified during a Vital Records review.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Robert Gordon also announced Friday that indoor dining will remain closed, but other businesses can reopen in the state.

Those businesses include movie theaters, bowling alleys, casinos, and in-person classes at high schools resuming on Jan. 4 after the holiday break. They will not be able to serve concessions, according to the state.

As of Dec. 18, a cumulative total of 284,731 people have recovered from the virus in Michigan.
