LANSING, Mich. — There are 174,388 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 7,309 deaths, the state reported Friday.
That's up 3,168 cases and 11 deaths.
On Thursday, state health officials tightened some coronavirus restrictions in response to the rising number of cases. The new epidemic order has added provisions to target indoor gatherings.
The state says Michigan presently has 172 cases per million people and positivity of tests has increased from about 2% to 5.5% and both indicators have been increasing for over four weeks.
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 have doubled over the last three weeks while the state death rate has increased for five consecutive weeks.
