Michigan reports 295 new cases of COVID-19, 3 new deaths

LANSING, Mich. — The state of Michigan reported 295 new cases of COVID-19 and three new deaths, according to the latest information released by the state's department of health and human services on Monday.

It brings the total number of cases up to 66,171 and 5,975 deaths as of Sunday. That doesn't include another 7,096 probable cases of the virus and 246 probable deaths from the virus.

On Sunday, the state reported zero new deaths for the first time since March, when the pandemic was growing in the state.

52,841 people have also recovered from the virus. Those numbers are updated every Saturday and include people who are still living 30 days after the onset of their symptoms.

There are also 7,100 active cases of the virus in Michigan, which is about 1,100 more cases that this time last week.

Michigan has seen an uptick in cases, especially among young people.
