LANSING, Mich. — Michigan has a total of 5,737 deaths and 59,496 confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to new numbers released by the state Thursday.
That's up 26 deaths and 218 cases from the day before.
More than 900,000 COVID-19 tests have been given out statewide.
Overall, 42,041 people have recovered from the virus.
Michigan is beginning to reopen as the number of coronavirus cases continues to drop. Governor Gretchen Whitmer said she hopes to move the rest of the state into phase 5 in the coming weeks, possibly around the July 4 holiday
