LANSING, Mich. — There are now 78,019 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Michigan and no new deaths, according to numbers released by the state Sunday afternoon.
That's up 604 cases from the day before.
The increase in cases on Sunday is due to a backlog of data, the state said.
"As reported yesterday, messaging system issues resulted in the delay of laboratory result referrals from Friday evening through Saturday morning," a statement on the State of Michigan website said. "The issue has been resolved and the back-logged referrals have been processed. Today’s new cases include a portion of referrals that would have appeared in Saturday's daily count, but had not been processed at the time of Saturday’s report."
State health officials also confirm that 55,162 Michiganders have recovered from the virus.
