Allegan County will get help with COVID-19 testing from the Michigan National Guard this week, a news release said.
More than 20 three-member teams, which include certified medics, will be helping in St. Johns on Wednesday and in Plainwell on Thursday.
In St. Johns, testing will take place at the Clinton County Fairgrounds from 3 to 7 p.m.
Plainwell’s testing site will be Kenyon Park from 9 a.m. to noon.
“Members of the Michigan National Guard, in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, as well as local health departments, continue to be a vital part of our state’s response to COVID-19 by testing thousands of people in communities across the state and distributing tens of thousands of pounds of food at community food banks,” said Maj. Gen. Paul Rogers. “COVID-19 is still a very real threat to our state and must all remain disciplined in our adherence to guidance from public health officials as we strive to protect ourselves, our families and our communities from this disease.”
All team members tested negative for the virus and have been following strict medical protocols.
Similar testing has been held in more than 50 communities over the past three months.
