Meijer starting daily health screenings for employees

Meijer is implementing daily health screenings this week for employees.

The screenings will be conducted on employees who work at "all its stores and facilities," according to Meijer today.

The move is part of the retailer’s "ongoing effort" to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and "ensure a safe and healthy work environment."

Meijer said employees will have their temperature taken "upon arrival" and must complete a health assessment questionnaire.

If the employee passes all screening questions and doesn't have an elevated temperature, they can begin working.

The retailer is also screening employees who have traveled internationally or had contact with someone with the virus in the past 14 days. They won't be allowed to work for 14 days from their date of travel or contact.

Employees who are "ineligible to work" due to symptoms should contact TeleMed or their health care provider.

Meijer said those employees who've been "directed to stay home" by a health care provider are eligible for its COVID-19 Pay Continuation Program.
