Marshall High School is reporting that one of its students has tested positive for COVID-19.

Marshall Public Schools made the announcement in a letter to parents by Superintendent Randy Davis. The letter is dated Sept. 7.

The district was notified of the case yesterday by the Calhoun County Public Health Department, according to the letter.

It is responsible for informing all those who are considered "close contacts" of the student.

"If your student does not qualify as a close contact, you will not hear from us," Davis says.

The district is moving forward with guidance from the health department and "all measures have been taken to protect the well-being of your child(ren)."

Davis asks parents to monitor their child for COVID-19 symptoms and contact their medical provider if they "note any change in the health of your child."
