LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will provide another update to the state's response to coronavirus on Friday afternoon.
Whitmer will be joined by MDHHS Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun for the update.
As of Thursday, there are 4,787 deaths from coronavirus and 49,582 cases in Michigan.
The state saw a massive spike in cases on Thursday due to backlogged results being reported electronically and increased testing at correctional facilities in the state.
Michigan also tested 14,242 people on May 12, the largest number of tests conducted since the outbreak began.
