48,201 cases, 4,674 deaths of coronavirus reported in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — There are now 4,674 deaths and 48,021 cases of coronavirus in Michigan, according to the latest numbers released by the State of Michigan on Monday.

That's up 90 deaths and 469 cases from Monday, when there were 4,584 deaths and 47,552 cases.

Overall, 22,686 have recovered from the virus, according to the state. That number will be updated Saturday. Recovery includes confirmed COVID-19 cases who are 30 days out from their onset, but the pool will expand as the pandemic continues.

Among the 90 new deaths announced today are 19 deaths that were discovered after a review of death certificate data that identified COVID-19 as a contributing factor.
