LANSING, Mich. — The number of coronavirus deaths in Michigan has risen to 3,085 while the number of cases is now at 36,641, according to new numbers released by the state of Michigan on Friday.
That's up 108 deaths and 1,350 cases from Thursday, when there were 2,977 deaths and 35,291 cases in the state.

The numbers come just hours after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer extended the stay-at-home order through May 15, but eased some of the restrictions.

The new order will require people to wear homemade face coverings when they enter enclosed public spaces.
It will also lift some restrictions on outdoor activities and allow some workers who perform previously suspended activities to go back to work.
“Data shows that most Michiganders are doing their part by staying home and staying safe. That’s good, but we must keep it up. Social distancing is our best weapon to defeat this enemy,” Whitmer said. “With new COVID-19 cases leveling off, however, we are lifting some of the restrictions put in place in the previous order. I want to be crystal clear: the overarching message today is still the same. We must all do our part by staying home and staying safe as much as possible.”
On Saturday, the state is also expected to release its latest recovery numbers. As of last Saturday, there were 3,237 people who have recovered from the virus.
The average age of those who have died from the virus is 74.2 years old, with the median age of 76 and the age range of 5 to 107 years old.
The cases are 45% male and 54% female while the percentage of deaths is 55% male and 45% female.

0-19 - 2% of cases, less than 1% of deaths
20-29 - 10% of cases, less than 1% of deaths
30-39 - 13% of cases, 1% of deaths
40-49 - 16% of cases, 4% of deaths
50-59 - 19% of cases, 9% of deaths
60-69 - 18% of cases, 19% of deaths
70-79 - 12% of cases, 28% of deaths
80+ - 11% of cases, 39% of deaths
