Detroit police say a 6-year-old boy was killed and a 2-year-old girl was critically injured after they were ejected from a car during an accident on Thursday night.
According to police, a Chevy Camaro was traveling at a high rate of speed on Whitmore St. when it hit a Chevy Impala at Manderson St., just north of McNichols on the city's west side.
The two children were ejected from the Impala and an adult was trapped inside the as it was pushed up against a van.
Both children were taken to Children's Hospital where the boy died from his injuries.
Witnesses say the Camaro ran a stop sign before hitting the Impala and causing the accident.
Three other people were injured in the crash. The 20-year-old man who was driving the Camaro in is stable condition, the mother of the two kids, a 23-year-old woman, is also in stable condition. The 25-year-old passenger in the Impala is in serious condition.
