Franklin passed away on Thursday morning from advanced pancreatic cancer.
According to a temple spokesperson, the family is still working on final arrangements, but the celebration will be private for close family and friends and a date has not yet been announced.
A public viewing will be held at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, according to TMZ.
Exact dates are yet to be determined.
