From Port Huron to the tip of the Michigan thumb, strong winds out of the north are pushing bug waves onto the shore. The National Weather Service issued a lakeshore flood advisory on Thursday morning.

The beachfront in Port Huron has been eroding for weeks because of the wind and the waves. Lake levels are the highest they’ve been in some 30 years running 2 to 3 feet above average. Waves were forecast to be as high as 4 to 8 feet with winds gusting to 25 knots and stronger.

Port Austin at the tip of the thumb was getting his with waves 3 to 4 feet. People who live there have also had their beach eroded with wind, waves and winter ice.
