The 3 most awesome college towns across America

and last updated

High school graduates are marching their way to their respective colleges this fall. The town they spend the next four years at can make the experience just as much as the school they go to so Jared Cotter has the three most awesome college towns across America.

1.  University of Texas in Austin, Texas

The 50 thousand undergrads can enjoy the SXSW, Austin City Limits Music Festival and Sixth Street is the live music capital of the world. Hungry students don't have to go far for tacos and world famous barbecue. You can even hike, bike, swim and canoe because most Longhorns embrace Austin’s active outdoor lifestyle.

2.  University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin

The campus is known for their epic Battle for Bascom tradition, though it's not certain who really wins. State Street offers entertainment and the occasional flash mob. The 30 thousand students can get birthday drinks all night at The Nitty Gritty and Wando's has dollar beers with a free pound of bacon every Tuesday. Get ready to party because game days can get a little wild.

3.  Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana

With just under 15 thousand undergrads the MSU Bobcats enjoy the big sky country's nature and military veterans seek out MSU for their second chapter. Head on over to Main Street for some of the best bars you’ll find in all of America.
