Arrest warrant issued for Detroit Police Officers Association President Mark Diaz

An arrest warrant has been issued for Detroit Police Officers Association President Mark Diaz, sources tell 7 Action News.

According to our source, the warrant is for felony charges of malicious destruction of a building between $1,000 and $20,000 and reckless driving.

The complainant is Holly Academy Schools, sources say.

We're told that Diaz could be arraigned in Clarkston on Friday afternoon.

According to our source, Detroit Police Chief James Craig has been notified and Diaz is expected to be suspended once arraigned.

Diaz released this statement to 7 Action News

“We’re surprised there are charges on this, but we’ll definitely work with the justice system to get the matter adjudicated as possible and we’ll cooperate 100%.  I’m very surprised by charges on this.”
