Detroit Police are trying to locate the three men who claimed to be police officers when they stormed a house on Detroit's west side where they demanded money and put a gun to the head of a 7-year-old girl.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. July 25 on Tuller Street near I-96.
A woman who lives in the home said she had just left to pick up a friend from work when the three intruders stormed through the front door.
The intruders were wearing all black, claimed to be Detroit Police and demanded money. They did not show any police badges or identification.
Detroit Police say the intruders are in no way associated with the department.
There were five children in the home and the intruders threatened to kill them if the adult male resident who was home did not turn over the money they were demanding.
The man was pistol-whipped when he didn't comply.
His fiancée said they didn't have any money to give the men.
Detroit Police say it's possible the intruders targeted the wrong house.
The children were not physically harmed.
The man who was struck with the gun declined medical treatment.
