All 'unsettled' proposals on negotiation table as UAW awaits GM response

The UAW has sent a letter to local officials updating negotiations in day 10 of the strike.

The key line in the letter says, "All unsettled proposals are now at the Main Table and have been Presented to General motors, we are awaiting their response. This back and forth will continue until negotiations are complete."

There is no other context given.

Some see this as progress, and that work on the committee levels in talks are complete.

This is also a signal that UAW negotiators could be willing to continue talks around the clock.

Once a tentative agreement is reach, it will be voted on by the union council of local leaders and then taken to the rank and file for ratification. That process will take several days. It is not clear if striking members would go back to work, which has been past tradition, or remain on strike until a ratification vote is complete.

In 2015, workers at Fiat Chrysler rejected the first tentative agreement. They were the first of the Big 3 car companies to negotiate the national contract. This year FCA and Ford are awaiting the UAW and GM to finish first.
