An 88-year-old man watched as two men broke into and ransacked his Huron Township home overnight between Saturday and Sunday, police said.

It happened on the 33000 block of Sibley Road sometime between 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Huron Township Public Safety Director Everette Robbins said the man could only provide limited information due to health conditions.

Robbins said the man called police Sunday afternoon to report the incident. He said the men ransacked his home after asking him for $100 in cash.

Nothing of value was taken from the home, police added.

The Huron Township Police Detective Bureau found forensic evidence at the home, which they sent to the Michigan State Police lab for analysis.

Robbins said seniors should lock their doors, remain vigilant and call police immediately if they see anything suspicious.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the Huron Township Public Safety Department at 734-753-4400.
