The man and his partner drove to the Junction Buoy restaurant Saturday afternoon. The man was adjusting his parking in a handicapped space, and somehow lost control of the vehicle.

Witnesses say the vehicle floated downriver before he and the vehicle went under. Crews pulled the car out of the river around 7 p.m.

Police said at least one person who witnessed the incident tried to jump in and save the man, but realized how cold the river was and immediately came back.
