Whether your goal is paying off debt, building an emergency fund, or saving for a rainy day, a side hustle could be the answer you're looking for. Lindsey Granger and Hire Story’s Theresa Maher have three super-fun ways to make some side cash.
1. Become a Private Tour Guide
Sites like Vayable and ToursByLocals contract locals to customize tour packages and offer them to their site visitors. You can create your own custom packages and show people places that you are probably going anyway. It's a great way for you to be able to scale up and down and then determine your own hours based on the length and number of locations that you want to take people to. You can take home up to 80 percent of your earnings, plus this gives visitors a chance to experience your city without feeling like such a tourist.
2. Become a Remote English Teacher
You can teach English as a second language to other people in foreign countries right from your computer. For many sites like Cambly, Palfish and NiceTalk, you don't need an English degree. The requirement is simply being fluent because you're talking more conversationally. A lot of it is how children would learn if they were in a new country, by immersing themselves in the folks around that are speaking that language and picking up things naturally. Pay ranges from $10 to $25 an hour.
3. Selling Your Photos for Cash
There are so many different places for you to be able to park your photos and sell them. iStock, Shutterstock, all of these websites that are crowd collectors for content that people can purchase. You can make anywhere from $1 to $10 per photo and with all the photos they take. Just keep the shots generic, like a picture of nice scenery and no selfies.
